... got my VR fix thanks to a friend's broadband, so I am all caught up now on House Eternal stuff, profile changes, database queue and rating.



Hopefully I will be back home just after New Year's Day and back to my usual VR dosage.



Our teacher had a contest for anyone who could make something that would make a bunch of carbon dioxide, this wouldn't have been so odd if he taught science - but he taught Social Studies.



My suggestion (involving a rusty wheel and some heavy breathing hamsters) didn't win, but Samantha's suggestion involving sugar and yeast did.



The local papers say he was arrested for growing drugs on Christmas Eve - I am guessing you need Carbon Dioxide to grow drugs - so it all makes sense. I wonder if this makes Samantha an accessory ??



Anyhow my "just check my eMails" has been about three hours ... catch you again errrrr ... next year

so far so good ... very good ... eaten too much that's f'sure and C H O C O L A T E is everywhere !!!!



I will be at Auntie Anne's until the New Year and she only has this sukky dial up internet which really really doesn't like VR (its taken me an age to get this far) so I will catch y'all when I'm back home

the new message system is really really awesome _ I clicked reply on a message on the *old* system, got a 404 error, did it again and the new system appeared.

Last day before the Chrissie hols tomorrow ... party at 9 ... it's pretty hectic til between Xmas and New Year. Parties, step rellies to visit, various Santas to tease - its gonna be a good one

I wonder why 'The Hallowed' disappeared

Procurating is such a rewarding job, it really is great .. like a hunt or a detective task, awesome when it all comes together



The procurator queue just gives the members name, date/time and what they type - no clue about what category they have submitted it from



So I get just a few words today : google them to find out that the words refer to a book



Into this list thing to check we don't already have a book listed like it, nope ... into Amazon : now for this book Amazon has no image, author or description, just an ISBN and a ASIN and 'out of print'.



I use the ASIN to generate a Amazon 'buy' link (go figure), while I google image seach for a pic ... Amazon France has a picture of the book cover, copy it to my desktop, crop the white border off it and resize it to fit the little frame I have to fit it in



From the book cover I get the author, google the author to eventually find a plot summary in the Waterstone bookstore website that finally confirms it is a vampire book



Cut and paste the info into the form thing, onto my desktop notepad to recolour the font for the 'submitted by' thing I use - submit it, then back to add the pic, then refresh to check it has all worked and rate it :)



Message the member to thank them for their suggestion and delete it from the queue



11 tabs used and 35 mins later, another book has been added to the database - Awesome



I like a challenge sometimes, its better than Buffy books (I can do 10 of them in a hour)

Database queue is still jammed up, hope Cancer unjams it soon



I've been comparing my very early VR to what I do on it today. I am a lot more cranky now and sometimes say what I think, when I should keep quiet



Don't know if that is a good thing or not

I'm here in front of a computer with a list of stuff for the database : but VR is all laggy :(

Tonight we debate 'social inequalities' and I think I have it sussed -



We had a thread running in House Eternal and I posted "People are not gay, black, disabled - they are people"



Deep huh, but I still had to find a debate topic that wouldn't get pulled off track too easily. Then I had a thought



A lot of people now think of muslims and almost automatically think of terrorists. So my suggestion is going to be



"Terrorists are not muslim - they are people"



I am hoping that someone will come back to say 'but some terrorists are muslim' because I have a rebuttal statement of 'all terrorists are human, but it does not follow that if you are a human you are a terrorist'



I am fairly sure the other side are way too good a debate team to fall for that, but if I can get that in - it will be a winner

Spent last night barfing so I am home alone, feel OK now



We have to debate social inequality tomorrow evening, we had an in house debate on Friday trying to work out what issues we could tackle but its too huge to keep on track. I've been hunting round the net this morning for ideas but can't find anything that doesn't risk getting pulled off course



I managed to clear down the procurator queue and answer all my messages this afternoon - just the whelps to rate then I am off to play SimCity til the folks come home

Best yet is 59.601m but I am working on it :)



Airplane game

I've been gone for like two whole days !!! It's taken me three hours to catch up



I put SimCity 4 on the PC and the computer kept switching off, I thought it was the game - so I was off following the bugfix guides but with no joy.



The the PC suddenly switched off while I was just online, had me wondering if it wasn't the game after all.



There was this sort of swishing clicking sound from inside the box. I copied everything I could think of onto the portable hard drive, I'm glad I did because when I switched it off that night, it never came back on again.



The six month old hard-drive had died :( I had missed the eMail folder in my back up which was a pain but managed to save just about everything else .... phew



I got to take the hard drive out into the garden and smash it open with a hammer, then cut the disc in half with a hacksaw - hah! steal our identities will ya :)



Anyhow I have been rating and reading like a possessed thing and had best go eat ...

Step sister is being a drama queen, she wants to leave home. She's been arguing and fighting for it for months. Parents have made sure she has somewhere nice to go, money, credit on her phone and all ... strewth she even had a huge food parcel



now she's saying everyone is trying to get rid of her ... well d'uh. I will carry on hiding in my room til she's gone, mostly because I can't afford a hit man.

Today I either (a) got attacked by a swarm of african killer bees that forced me to tak cover beneath the murky waters of a little explored lake or (b) I fell into the fish pond that I was cleaning

I have been writing nasty eMails to EA games because their SimCity4 game keeps switching the computer off. I did all they said and it was still doing it ... They have spend an age trying to figure it out



then, in the middle of a VR session, SimCity nowhere in sight, the computer switches off !! Oops, might be my fault after all



HOWEVER while searching for a bug fix for Sim City I have found a very useful cheat code that everyone, and I mean everyone, should write down :



Ctrl + X then type in dollyllama then ENTER



this changes all the advisors into Llamas
